    Re: Coeburn Changes

If you think you know as much or more about football than the coach then please go coach somewhere. Of course your son is a superstar... everyones child is.

Please stop while you are ahead.

    Re: Coeburn Changes

It's the same story every year with Coeburn. They always have a ton of kids that quit half way through the season. It sounds like this year's bunch isn't going to be any different. Maybe that shows what kind of work ethic and team commitment is being instilled by the parents. I don't know.
That's good that they aren't so "frank" in the locker room with the coaches, that would inappropriate and insubordinate.
There were plenty of times where I disagreed or would have done things differently than what my coaches were telling us to do...but I knew my place. A varsity sports team is not a democracy and shouldn't be one.

Case in point: Our boys were told that if they did NOT attend football camp then they would not start ... period. Everyone went to football camp & came home & crashed for 3 days as they were pushed to the max & were wore out. They busted their hind ends in the heat, got the hell beat out of them & gave their all. The coaches had BEGGED one gentleman ALL summer long to play. He refused because his sole focus was on wrestling. Well wouldn't you know about 2 wks prior to our 1st game this kid finally showed up & wanted to play. That kid ended up with a varsity spot & gets more game time than a ton of kids who have toughed it out all summer long in the heat, in the rain, through camp. Now ... is that fair? Heck no! Does that show a lack of character on our coaches behalf? Um ... yeah! It does! So when you say trust the coaches & let them do their job, that is MUCH easier to do when they set boundaries & follow them too.
The better player will play thats how it usually goes. Who cares if they missed 2adays cause i sure as hell would have if i had a choice back in high school. Your son isnt playing probably cause someone on the team is better than him get over it.

    Re: Coeburn Changes

Obviously nobody read my post where I stated that my son was complaining because he plays the bulk of the game & doesn't get a break. I am not an uneducated, embittered mom whose son warms the bench nor do I believe my son is a superstar. The point of my comment was to simply state that when you are done by 30 points with 4 min's in the game give some of the other boys a chance to play. There is way too much testosterone in here to understand fairness & integrity. We don't teach our boys to quit obviously or he wouldn't be where he is. We teach our children to finish what they start regardless of whether we agree with the coaching, the plays or the agenda. I just find it hard to overlook a lack of integrity. It's the old "do as I say & not as I do" kinda thing. Obviously the majority here is not about fairness, team & character. The coaches don't win the game, the players do. When you have 56 kids on a team you PLAY them! Granted to win you play your best players but like I said, when you are getting your ass handed to you, play some of the other boys. Otherwise you have nights like tonight where we have to offload the bus to work on 2 of our boys that were either vomitting or having an asthma attack on the way home from exertion. Insane! They need time in the game to rest & recover. In the meantime, you've got 40 other boys out there begging to get a chance to play. And we don't put them in because geez ... it's 46 to 12 & we might look stupid if we don't have our best players on there taking an ass whooping. Stupid! It's political & nothing more than wearing out our boys while someone saves face.

I've never lived in Pound. That was a statement out of nowhere. And what does my geographical location have to do with any of this?

    Sounds like they're really committed.

Or maybe just really let down. There's a thought. It doesn't take a genius to realize that if year after year you have boys quitting & your team is sucking that maybe it's not ALL the boys' fault or the parents' fault. Time & history has shown that you are only as good as your leader. Let's be real here. Coeburn hasn't been a powerhouse in years. Obviously, there is an issue with something other than the players.

It's a joke. Pound has a habit of whiney parents that try to run things and always running off their coach, you don't sound as bad as they are, but looks like Coeburn is going in that direction possibly - it's just lack of talent and skill, they just aren't any good.
